Both below ground and above ground Standpipes are the ultimate solution for a secure and reliable water supply in various settings, including building sites, factory units, and allotments. A construction standpipe is a vertical pipe installed on a construction site to provide easy access to water for various construction activities. These standpipes are typically used for tasks such as mixing concrete, dust control, and in case of emergency situations.
What are the different kinds of standpipes?
Above Ground Standpipe:
Manufactured in the UK, our Aboveground Standpipe is crafted from stainless steel with WRAS-approved fittings internally.
There are two different kinds of standpipes that we offer; below ground and above ground pipes. The main difference between above and below ground standpipes lies in their location and purpose. Above ground standpipes are used for regular construction activities, while below ground standpipes are placed into the ground and less obstructive. You can explore our standpipes.
Below Ground Standpipe:
Our Below Ground Standpipe is the ultimate solution for secure and reliable water supply in various settings, including building sites, factory units, and allotments. Manufactured in England from high-quality stainless steel, this standpipe is built to last and withstand the elements. Internally, it features WRAS-approved fittings, ensuring safety and reliability. To protect against frost, the inside is insulated with 12MM foam, and additional pipe lagging is provided for extra protection around the tap and internal pipes.
What do I need in place to install a standpipe?
‘We allow licensed commercial customers to remove water from standpipes for building, road cleaning, graffiti removal or landscaping work. To use a standpipe on our network, you must have a licence, and hire a metered standpipe from your local water service provider.
Each licence is allocated to a specific standpipe and you must have both to use water from our network. Licences are not transferable.
Standpipe licence
You can apply for a licence to cover daily, monthly or annual usage. Licence charges are payable in advance and depend on:
- Estimated daily use.
- The size of the standpipe.
- The period for which the licence is required.
All charges are calculated on an application for a licence.’ – Thameswater
